Handsome Boy Modeling School -- That's Right!

I absolutely LOVE these guys.. they make me smile!

Handsome Boy Modeling School

Biography; from Pandora

Handsome Boy Modeling School was a teaming of quirky super-producers Prince Paul (best-known for his work with De la Soul and Stetsasonic) and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura (fresh off his underground success with Kool Keith's Dr. Octagon album). Taking their name from an episode of the cult Chris Elliott sitcom Get a Life (which was sampled several times on their album), Pauland Dan adopted the über-stylish alter egos of Chest Rockwell and Nathaniel Merriweather, respectively. Their debut album, So...How's Your Girl?, was a loose concept record packed with guest stars: rappers Del tha Funkee Homosapien, J-Live, and El-P; members of Cibo Matto,Brand Nubian, and the Beastie Boys; star turntablists likeDJ Shadow, DJ Quest, and Kid Koala; electronica artists like Moloko's Roisin Murphy and Atari Teenage Riot's Alec Empire; and even Saturday Night Live's Father Guido Sarducci. So...How's Your Girl? was released on Tommy Boy in the fall of 1999 to mostly favorable reviews, and the opening track, "Rock n' Roll (Could Never Hip Hop Like This)," was licensed for a TV ad campaign. Nakamura subsequently moved on to a host of other highly conceptual projects, including Deltron 3030, Gorillaz, and Lovage. The duo returned to record-store shelves in 2004 with White People, their first album for Elektra. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi

Galveston Art Walk, Sat. April 30th

For over 20 years the Galveston Arts Center has organized and produced ArtWalk, occurring every six to eight weeks on Saturday nights in the heart of Galveston's historic district. Not a street festival, ArtWalk takes place in existing galleries and non-profit spaces and also what are called "other walls," for example, restaurants and retail stores. ArtWalk promotes visual art and artists, extends alternative places to see and learn about art and hopes to bring newcomers, as well as welcome return visitors to the art community on the island.

Janese's Pick!

No not pics like pictures but like picks! But this could be pictures too!!

So I am always running across new, exciting art and music and pieces of heart and soul that I believe make life worth living. I end up posting this bits on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and even sending out mass emails. I figures I would spare you all and start a blog... if you are into it... subscribe, if not... don't :)

Up First: New(ER) Music....

Brett Dennen; So Much More

Head this song... liked the artist... thought you would too :)

About the Artist:

Youthful West Coast singer/songwriter Brett Dennen first drew attention in 2004 with the single "Desert Sunrise." The tune, with its easy groove and soulful phrasing, garnered enough spins on KCRW to warrant the release of his self-titled debut the following year. In 2006 Dennen signed with Dualtone and released So Much More. Hope for the Hopeless followed on the same imprint in 2008. Dennen's fourth studio effort, Loverboy, was released in April of 2011. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
